According to the Thursday April 19th report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 68% of 2011 High School graduates were enrolled in Colleges and Universities.
The bureau also reported that “recent high school graduates not enrolled in College in October 2011 were more likely than enrolled graduates to be working or looking for work.”
Many statistics are not pleasant for high school dropouts. Between October 2010 and October 2011 369,000 young people dropped out of high school. Worse, the unemployment rate for recent high school dropouts is a staggering 38.4%.
In October 2011, 15.9 million persons between the age of 16 and 24 were not enrolled in school. About 6 in 10 students enrolled in College were enrolled in 4 year institutions.
