According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis’s most recent report, Gross Domestic Product increased at an annual rate of 1.9% in the 1st Quarter of 2012.
The statistics represent the Real Gross Domestic Product, which is defined as the output of goods and services produced by labor and property located in the United States. This is a quarter to quarter slowdown from 4th Quarter 2011, when the real gross domestic product was 3.0% on an annual basis. The figure for the 1st Quarter of 2012 is very similar to the figure for the 3rd Quarter of 2011, when real gross domestic product increased approximately 1.85% on an annual basis for the 3rd Quarter 2011.
