Personal income increases .2% April 2012

Personal income increased .2% in April 2012, according to the BEA, Bureau of Economic Analysis.    The bureau defines this figure as real disposable personal income.

The bureau further reported that the personal income figure is down from March, 2012. In March, real disposable personal income increased .4%.    The increase of .2% in April 2012 represents an increase of $31.7 Billion of personal income for the quarter and $22 Billion of disposable personal income.

Private wage and salary disbursements increased $12.9 Billion for the month, with an increase of $17.6 billion in March.   Goods producing industry payrolls increased $7.2 Billion.

For the government, government wages and salaries were unchanged in April, compared to a $.8 billion increase in March 2012.    The bureau reported that personal savings,  which is defined as disposable personal income minus outlays, was $403.4 billion in April, compared to $411.7 billion in March 2012.
