According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis Wednesday, April 25th, 8:30 A.M. 2012 report, Personal Income in large counties represented a significant percentage of personal income in the United States.
Personal income in large counties–counties with population statistics with a minimum of 250,000 people – represents 8 percent of the 3,113 counties in the U.S..
However, for personal income, they account for 68 percent of personal for the nation. The following statistics of the 261 counties for 2010:
- Net earnings (Which are wages and salaries, and proprietors’ income, less contributions for government social insurance) represented 66 percent of personal income, meanwhile, property income (personal dividends, interest, and rent) contributed 17 percent and transfer receipts (which includes Social Security, Medicare, and unemployment insurance), and represented 17 percent.
- Net earnings increased 3.0 percent, which is an increase of -5.5 percent in 2009. Property income also increased 2.9 percent, up from -16.7 percent. Transfer receipts increased 7.3 percent, decrease from 14.1 percent.
- Personal income increases ranged from 8.7 percent in Loudoun, Virginia to -2.8 percent in St. Joseph, Indiana.
- Per capita personal income varied from $111,386 in New York (Manhattan), New York to $20,946 in Hidalgo, Texas.
