The latest release of Gross Domestic Product statistics by the Bureau of Economic Analysis by region reflects that the Southwest part of the country led the nation in GDP growth for 2011.
The Southwest had a 2.7% annual percentage change in real GDP growth for the 2011. This was followed by the Far West region which had 2.1% annual percentage change in real GDP. The New England region was 3rd with 1.8% annual percentage change in real Gross Domestic Product for the year.
The Southeast and Mideast regions had the slowest GDP growth, with both reflecting .9% annual percentage change in real Gross Domestic Product for 2011. These numbers were lower than for 2010 when GDP growth was higher.
