Unemployment Claims up slightly week ending June 9th 2012

Unemployment claims up slightly for the week ending June 9th, 2012,  per theh department of Labor.

Per the June 14th, 8:30 A.M. release by the Department of Labor, seasonally adjusted initial claims was 386,000, an increase of 6,000 from the previous weeks revised figures 380,000.   The 4 week moving average was 382,000, an increase of 3,500 from the previous weeks revised average of 378,500.

The department of labor further reported that the seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 2.6% for the week ending June 2nd, unchanged from the previous week.

Extended unemployment benefits were available in the District of Columbia, Idaho, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and West Virginia,  during the week ending May 26th.
