Per the November 29th, 8:30, Thursday release by the Department of Labor, initial unemployment claims were 393,000 on a seasonally adjusted basis. This represented a decrease of 23,000 from the previous weeks figure of 416,000.
The department reported that the 4 week moving average was 405,250, an increase of 7,500 from the previous week’s revised average of 397,750. The department reported further that the advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 2.6% for the week ending November 17th, unchanged from the prior week’s unrevised rate.
Insured unemployment for the week ending November 17th, was 3,287,000, a decrease of 70,000 from the previous week’s figures, and revised level of 3,357,000.
